چکیده
We provide a utility representation theorem for the revealed preference of an agent choosing in arbitrary space endowed with separable partial order. The result can be applied to construct new tests choices over infinite consumption streams and probability distribution spaces, among other cases interest economics. As illustration, we best-responding behavior strategic games horizon problems.

A Representation Theorem for General Revealed Preference
Following Richter (1966), we provide criteria under which a preference relation implied by a finite set of choice observations has a complete extension that can in turn be represented by a utility function. These criteria rely on a mapping over preference relations, the rational closure, which is a generalization of the transitive closure and is employed to construct the complete extension. We ...
متن کاملGeneral revealed preference theory
We provide general conditions under which an economic theory has a universal axiomatization: one that leads to testable implications. Roughly speaking, if we obtain a universal axiomatization when we assume that unobservable parameters (such as preferences) are observable, then we can obtain a universal axiomatization purely on observables. The result “explains” classical revealed preference th...
متن کاملIs utility transferable? A revealed preference analysis
The transferable utility hypothesis underlies important theoretical results in household economics. We provide a revealed preference framework for bringing this (theoretically appealing) hypothesis to observational data. We establish revealed preference conditions that must be satisfied for observed household consumption behavior to be consistent with transferable utility. We also show that the...
متن کاملA General Stone Representation Theorem
This note contains a Stone-style representation theorem for compact Haus-dorff spaces. The note is very much inspired by some existing representation theorems and is expository in nature. The first representation theorem is by Jung and Sünderhauf in [JS] and there is also a version of it for compact Hausdorff spaces noted by D. Moshier [Mo], the ideas of which were described to us by A. Jung. T...
متن کاملPreference Elicitation For General Random Utility Models
This paper discusses General Random Utility Models (GRUMs). These are a class of parametric models that generate partial ranks over alternatives given attributes of agents and alternatives. We propose two preference elicitation scheme for GRUMs developed from principles in Bayesian experimental design, one for social choice and the other for personalized choice. We couple this with a general Mo...
